Linda Stanfield, President of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and a member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Small Business Association, has been appointed by Governor Jan Brewer to serve on the new Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) Simplification Tax Force.

The TPT Simplification Tax Force is the result of the passage of HB 2123 that Governor Brewer signed into law on May 11, 2012. The 13-member task force is being established to study and make recommendations on how to simplify the state’s sales tax system to help taxpayers better understand and comply with the code. The task force includes professionals from both the private and public sector and will propose changes to revise Arizona’s tax code to reflect a 21st century economy. The Task Force must present its recommendation to the Governor, as well as the Senate President and Speaker of the House, before the end of this year.

"The passage of HB 2123 was one of our top priority bills that we strongly advocated for during this recent session.” said Rick Murray, CEO of ASBA. "We are pleased that a small business advocate like Linda was selected, and we applaud Governor Brewer for taking on the challenging issue of simplifying our tax code.”

Linda Stanfield is a long-time Phoenician and successful small business owner and operator that understands the challenges that small businesses face. Her commitment to strengthening Arizona’s business climate, along with her leadership skills, will be an asset to the TPT Task Force. The Arizona Small Business Association congratulates Ms. Stanfield, as well as all other members selected, and pledges its support to the task force.
